Krishnamurthy Jayanna, Professor & Dean, Faculty of Life & Allied Health Sciences, RUAS talked about Yoga as a Public Health Measure for Health Promotion and Mr. S N Omkar, Chief Research Scientist Control and Guidance, Indian Institute of Science & Yoga Expert spoke on Yoga Practices for Physical and Mental Health. He spoke on Yoga for Mental and Physical Wellbeing: Ayurveda Perspective. The second event of the day was a Panel Discussion on the theme “Yoga at Home, yoga with Family” from 11.30 AM to 1.00 PM. Later he demonstrated simple asanas for beginners. He demonstrated body loosening exercises which one should start with before practicing Yoga. The session was conducted by Shri Nagendra Belavadi, Yoga Therapist, Ramaiah Indic Speciality Ayurveda Restoration Hospital (RISA). The first event was an online Yoga session for students and staff of the University in the morning from 8.30 to 9.30 AM. Three events were organized on the occasion. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) celebrated International Day of Yoga on 21st June, 2021.
Lastly the Vote of Thanks was proposed by Prof. The Deans of various Faculties, Directors, Heads of the Research Centre, Research Coordinators and the aspiring new Research Scholars graced the occasion with their kind presence in a hybrid mode (online and offline). The Vice Chancellor highlighted on “Excellence” as the key success parameter to complete the Ph.D. The Presidential Address was delivered by Prof. Sundaresh, PVC-Health Sciences, RUAS who emphasized on three D’s to carry out Research i.e., Devotion, Duty and Discipline. Later, the Inaugural Function comprised of Address by Prof. Kadambi, Pro Vice- Chancellor (Research) who enlightened on three C’s which are important to carry out research i.e., Compassion, Commitment and Concentration. The Welcome Address was delivered by Prof. The Research Division of Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) inaugurated the Research Programme of July 2021 Batch. The “Trishul” facility is used to solve cutting-edge research problems in various fields such as catalysis, predicting reactions mechanism, designing new materials for batteries, and artificial intelligence in chemistry Thrust areas of research supported by the laboratory are - Novel thermoelectric materials for energy harvesting, inorganic materials for anti-counterfeiting and solid state lighting, glass ceramics for bio-medical applications.
Trishul is the combination of high-end workstations/servers with 120 core processors installed with VASP (Vienna Ab-initio Simulation Package) software (licensed). The Laboratory is equipped with High Temperature Furnaces, Probe Ultra-Sonicator, High Precision Weighing Balance, Hydraulic KBr Pelletizer, UV chamber, Photo-catalytic work station and HPC facility “Trishul”.
